A blank in the first column means we did not verify it. We make no claim about features Square Appointments does not publish.

When Square Appointments may fit better

Square Appointments may fit better for a shop or studio that takes cards at a counter, because booking, reader hardware and processing share one account. [2][3] Its Free plan has no monthly fee. [1] Cards on file for no show fees are a strength. [5] Apex is early access and card-present payments are not built.

How Apex is designed differently

Apex keeps scheduling separate from the card processor. Online requests arrive pending until the owner or the owner's rules confirm them. Plans are priced by user, card processing is the processor's own rate with no Apex margin, and texts and AI phone minutes are not included in any plan. Tap to pay readers are not part of Apex.

This is a statement about Apex design, not a claim that Square Appointments falls short. Apex Flow Scheduler is early access, its only tenant is Apex’s own first business, and many features are still rolling out.

  • Whether a customer's online request waits for owner approval was not stated on the pages read.
  • Client export steps were not verified.
