The explanation

A scheduling product answers when a car comes in. It does not track the work order, the parts or the inspection. Setmore bills per user and Square Appointments per location, so a shop with two service writers and one location pays differently under each model ^[1]^[2].

Location-based pricing favors a single-location shop with many staff, since Square Appointments lists no employee limit ^[2]. User-based pricing favors a shop with only one or two people at the desk. Count the people who actually need to open the calendar.

Then add everything else the shop needs. Estimate approvals, a parts system, vehicle history and a payment processor each carry their own pricing. A scheduler at five dollars and a shop system at several hundred are different products, and the second usually includes the first.
