Why does dispatch keep crashing?

Process: App reliability and support. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerDispatch apps usually crash for four reasons: an out-of-date app version, a phone low on storage or memory, a weak data signal during a sync, or an oversized day view. Work through them in order, note exactly when the crash happens, and report that detail to support, because it speeds up the fix.

The explanation

First rule out the phone. Restart it, free some storage, close other apps, and install pending updates for the app and the operating system. An older phone running a new version of the app is a common mismatch.

Next, test the network. If it crashes only in basements or rural stops, the app is probably failing when a sync times out. Try the same action on Wi-Fi. If it works there, the app needs a better offline behavior, and you should say that when you contact the vendor.

Then isolate the data. Does it crash on one customer, one job, or one very long day? A single bad record can break a screen. Write down the time, the screen and the steps. A support team can act on a specific report far faster than on a general complaint. Keep a paper or printed route as a backup for the day.

Steps

  1. Restart the phone and update the app.
  2. Check free storage and close other apps.
  3. Repeat the action on Wi-Fi and on mobile data.
  4. Note which job or customer triggers the crash.
  5. Send support the time, screen and steps.

What to watch for

  • Reinstalling without exporting unsynced notes.
  • Sharing one login on several phones.

How Apex does it

In progress

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex installs on the phone home screen from the browser as a web app, with no app store download, so updating means reloading the page. Offline mode is partly built, and there is no native iOS or Android app.

Apex Flow Scheduler is in early access. See how we label status.
