Is there an issue with my software?
Short answerBefore assuming a bug, check the account itself. Expired payment cards, ended trials, changed user roles, and a password that was reset elsewhere account for a large share of sudden problems. The software seems broken, but it is doing exactly what the account settings tell it to do.
The explanation
Start with billing. If the card on file expired, many tools restrict features or lock the account after a grace period. Check the billing page and look for banners about failed payments or an ended trial.
Then look at roles. If a feature suddenly disappeared for one person, someone may have changed their role or permission. The owner should be able to see which role each user holds. Fix the role and the feature returns.
Last, check that the person is signed in to the right account. Owners with several businesses, or staff with a personal and a work login, often sign in to the wrong one and see missing data. Sign out completely and sign back in with the right email. Check the email address shown on the profile page before you assume anything is missing.
Steps
- Open the billing page and check for failed payments or an ended trial.
- Check the user's role and permissions.
- Confirm the person is signed in to the correct account.
- Only then contact support, listing what you ruled out.
What to watch for
- Updating the card in one place while the old card still shows in another.
- Giving every staff member the owner role to avoid permission problems.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex has roles and permissions, and self-serve plan change and trial extension. The role system is built and working for the first business, and plan change is still in progress, so billing questions go to the owner or support.
