Does Calendly send SMS reminders?

Process: Reminders and texting. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerYes, on plans that include Automations. Calendly's help page says it sends text reminders through Twilio, that invitees must choose to receive them, and that each message is capped at 180 characters [1]. Replies from invitees are not delivered or monitored, which matters if customers answer by text.

The explanation

The Calendly help page describes the setup: texts come from a number Calendly assigns, not your own, and you cannot choose or change it [1]. Invitees opt in during booking and can opt out later. New accounts get limited customization of the text, using built-in templates for a while [1].

Those limits shape how it fits a service business. A 180 character message is enough for a time and an address but tight for access notes. Because replies are not monitored, a customer who texts back that the gate code changed reaches nobody [1].

If you only need meeting reminders, those limits may be fine. If you dispatch crews, look for a tool where replies land in an inbox you read, and where the on-the-way text carries an estimate. Read the vendor page before relying on any detail here, since plans and limits change [1].

What to watch for

  • Customers replying to a number nobody reads.
  • Message length cutting off access instructions.
  • Assuming a new account has full text customization.

How Apex does it

In progress

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex is designed for two-way text from the business number, with STOP handling built. Texting stays off until the owner connects a provider account and completes carrier registration, and the two-way inbox is partly built.
