Does calendly send reminders?
Short answerCalendly can send reminders through Automations, including text messages on certain plans, but the texts come from random U.S. numbers that cannot be chosen, and replies are neither delivered nor monitored [1]. For a service business, the key question is whether customers need to reply to reach you.
The explanation
The vendor says text messages go through Twilio and invitees can choose to receive or stop them [1]. Each message is capped at 180 characters, and invitee answers from forms are shortened to 40 characters or fewer in messages [1]. Those limits shape what you can say.
A good reminder does three jobs: it states the date and window, it says what the customer must do, and it lets them change the visit. With one-way texts, the third job needs a link, and the vendor says reschedule and cancel links can be added using custom variables [1].
If your customers often reply with access instructions, a number that cannot receive replies is a gap. In that case, pair the reminder with a phone number in the message, or use a tool where replies reach your inbox. Match the reminder style to how your customers actually behave.
What to watch for
- Telling customers to text back when replies are not delivered.
- Writing a long message that gets cut at the character limit.
How Apex does it

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex has appointment reminders, two-way texting from a business number as an in-progress piece and customizable templates. The texting path needs the owner's provider account and number registration before it can send.
