I hate my flooring software, what else is there?
Short answerFlooring installers switching software should export open quotes with room measurements and material choices, since those drive orders. Test square-foot pricing and waste factors in the replacement, and keep the old account open until every active install is finished and paid.
The explanation
Flooring quotes carry measurements by room, product selections and a waste allowance. Those details feed the material order. A replacement that stores only a total price makes you retype each order from the paper notes.
Export open quotes and accepted jobs with their line items. If measurements are not in the export, copy them for active jobs into a spreadsheet. Orders already placed with suppliers should be tracked wherever you keep them, separate from the software.
Test with one real measure. Enter rooms, choose a product, apply your waste allowance and compare the total with what the old tool would have produced. Leave jobs with ordered materials in the old tool and start only new quotes in the new one. Move the rest once the first few installs finish cleanly.
What to watch for
- Moving a job after material is already ordered.
- Forgetting waste allowances in the new price rules.
In flooring installer
Product selections change between quote and order. Check how the new tool records a changed selection, since customers revise them often. All flooring installer scheduling questions.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex works toward measurement takeoffs, estimate templates by service and a CSV customer export. The takeoffs and templates are built as screens, the export is partly built, and none is connected to saved data yet.
