I hate my electrician software, what else is there?
Short answerAn electrician replacing software should save the customer list, job history, price book and license or permit records before testing anything new. Flat-rate price books rarely export cleanly, so budget time to rebuild yours and check totals against old invoices.
The explanation
The price book is the heart of electrical software. It holds your flat-rate tasks, materials and markup. If the old tool exports it, great. If not, build the new book from your last twenty invoices, listing the common tasks first.
Permit and inspection history matter for compliance records and for callbacks. Export or print them for active jobs. License and insurance documents should live somewhere separate from any single vendor, so a cancelled account never holds your only copy.
Trial with live calls. Quote two real jobs in the new tool and compare the numbers with what you would have charged in the old one. A difference means the price book needs work before you rely on it. Keep the old invoices in a folder so you can keep checking for a month.
What to watch for
- Trusting a rebuilt price book without checking it against old invoices.
- Leaving license documents only in the old account.

Electricians often service the same panel and equipment for years. Keep notes on what is installed at each address, since it saves the next tech a visit to figure it out. All electrician scheduling questions.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex works toward a price book with flat-rate pricing, insurance and license tracking, and a CSV customer export. The price book and tracking are built as screens, the export is partly built, and none is connected to saved data yet.
