How to use ServiceM8?

Process: App reliability and support. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerServiceM8's official getting-started guide has you install the iOS or Android app, personalize the account, then import existing clients and materials. [1] Do those three in order, then schedule a few real jobs and run one through to an invoice before training the crew.

The explanation

The guide describes a test-drive of core features, basic account setup and an import step for existing client and item lists. If you have no list, it says you can enter clients and items as you go. [1] That choice matters: a clean import saves time, but a messy one creates cleanup.

The same page points to local ServiceM8 partners for full setup and training packages, and to a support email. [1] The vendor's overview page mentions a 14 day free trial with no credit card required. [2] Confirm current terms on the vendor's site before you rely on that.

In practice, run a trial week with two or three of your real jobs, and have one crew member use the phone app in the field. Whatever annoys that person on day two is what you will hear about for months.

What to watch for

  • Importing a full old client list before cleaning duplicates.
  • Testing only in the office and never on a phone in the field.
