What does it mean when an app crashes?
Short answerWhen an app crashes, the program ran into a problem it could not recover from and shut itself down. You see it close without warning or freeze and then quit. The cause is usually the phone running out of memory, a software bug, a corrupted file or a mismatch between versions.
The explanation
A crash is different from a slow app or an error message. An error message is the app telling you it has a problem and staying open. A crash is the whole program ending suddenly, often back to your home screen. A freeze, where the screen stops responding, can also end in a crash if you wait.
The cause matters because the fix differs. If the phone ran out of memory, closing other apps helps. If a bug in one screen causes it, you will see it fail in the same place each time and need the vendor to fix it. If a damaged local file causes it, a reinstall may clear it.
A single crash is not worth worrying about. A crash that repeats in the same place deserves notes: the screen, the time and the steps. Those notes are what turn a crash from a mystery into a bug that can be fixed.
What to watch for
- Treating one random crash as a sign the software is bad.
- Forgetting to note the screen when a crash repeats.
How Apex does it
Not a scheduler feature
Apex runs as a web app in the phone browser, so the browser or page may reload rather than closing a program. It is early access, and an owner who sees a repeat failure can report the exact screen and steps.
Apex Flow Scheduler is in early access. See how we label status.
