How do I never miss a customer call in my electrician business?
Short answerDefine which calls are emergencies, route those to your phone through an after-hours rule or transfer, and send everything else a missed-call text. An electrician working in a panel should not answer, but a caller with sparks or no power needs a person, so the rule must separate the two.
The explanation
Safety makes the electrician's phone problem unusual. Taking a call with your hands in a live panel is dangerous, so the phone has to be left alone during the work. But the same trade receives calls that cannot wait: a burning smell, a tripped main, a downed line.
Write down the emergency list and make the system match it. A caller who says one of those phrases or presses a key for urgent goes to your phone or an on-call number. Everyone else gets a text that asks what is wrong, the address and a photo of the panel or device.
After hours, decide ahead of time what you will do. Many owners choose to take emergencies only and answer the rest the next morning, with a text that says so. Callers accept a clear rule far better than silence.
Steps
- Write a short list of emergency situations that justify an after-hours call to your phone.
- Set the after-hours handling to route those and text the rest.
- Ask all non-emergency callers for the address, the problem and a photo.
- Return routine calls the next business morning, oldest first.
In electrician
Electrical work involves live panels and ladders, and emergencies such as burning smells and total power loss are real. The call plan has to protect the electrician while still giving urgent callers a fast human path. All electrician scheduling questions.
How Apex does it

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex is designed to handle after-hours calls, warm transfer to the owner and text missed callers. AI call handling is partly built and stays off until connected, and texting needs a connected provider account.
