How to cancel a field service subscription and keep my customer list?

Process: Switching and cancelling. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerTo cancel a field service subscription and keep your customer list, export customers, locations, jobs and invoices to files you control before canceling, open the files to confirm they are complete, and store a second copy offline. Your list is the asset that moves with you to the next tool.

The explanation

Customers are what you actually own. The export should include names, phones, emails, service addresses and notes, and ideally job history and open balances. If the export tool only offers a customer list without addresses, ask support for a full data file before you cancel.

Open the file in a spreadsheet and check a handful of customers you know. Are there duplicates, missing phone numbers or merged cells? Fix that now, while the old system can still answer questions.

Store a copy on a drive you control, with a date in the name. Then import into the new tool and compare counts. Only after the new system shows the same customers and open jobs should you cancel the old one. Privacy rules may apply to stored customer data, so keep the file secure.

What to watch for

  • An export missing addresses or notes.
  • Canceling before comparing counts in the new tool.
  • Keeping the file somewhere unsecured.
