Pending request: what it means
DefinitionA pending request is a customer's online ask for a visit that the business has received but not yet accepted. It is not a confirmed booking until the owner or the owner's rules approve it, which protects the calendar from times the crew cannot actually serve.
How it works in a service business
Handling requests separately keeps the calendar honest. The customer picks a preferred time, the business reviews the address, the service and the crew's day, then confirms, proposes another time, or declines. The tradeoff is speed: instant booking feels modern, but a request step catches bad fits such as an address outside the area or a job that needs a different crew. A common mistake is letting requests sit for a day, so the customer books elsewhere. Set a target response time, send an acknowledgment so the customer knows it arrived, and use clear wording, such as requested, pending or confirmed, so nobody assumes a visit is set before it is.
Example
A homeowner requests Thursday morning for a gutter cleaning. The request shows as pending, the owner confirms it after checking the route, and only then does the customer get a confirmation.
