What does towing dispatch software cost?

Process: Software pricing and choosing. Trade: Towing service. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerTowing dispatch software is priced per user, per truck or per call, so compare quotes by cost per call. Divide the total monthly bill, including texts and card fees, by the calls you dispatch. A system that looks cheap per user can cost more per call than one priced per truck.

The explanation

Start with last month's numbers: calls dispatched, trucks running and people logging in. Ask each vendor for a quote written against those three numbers, with every fee listed: subscription, extra trucks, texting, card processing and any call-based charges.

Then divide. A shop doing 150 calls a month with a 300 dollar bill pays 2 dollars a call, and a shop doing 60 calls pays 5. The same tool is cheap for one and costly for the other, which is why headline prices mislead.

Seasonality matters too. Winter storms can double a month's calls, and some per-call models spike with them while per-user models stay flat. Ask your sales contact whether you can pause or downgrade in a slow month, and whether data stays accessible if you do. Get the answer in writing.

Steps

  1. Pull last month's call count, trucks and dispatcher logins.
  2. Request written quotes that list every fee for those numbers.
  3. Divide each total by calls dispatched to get cost per call.
  4. Repeat for your busiest month to see how it scales.

What to watch for

  • Per-call charges that spike in storm months.
  • Texting and processing priced separately from the plan.

In towing service

Towing demand is bursty, with weather and accidents doubling call volume overnight, so a model that scales per call behaves very differently from a flat per-user one. All towing service scheduling questions.
