Why is QuickBooks so expensive now?

Process: Integrations and accounting. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerIf QuickBooks Online feels more expensive now, check three things before blaming a hike: the first-months discount may have ended, you may have added users, or you may have moved to a higher tier. [1] The page lists $38 to $340 a month and 50% off for three months. [1]

The explanation

The promotion is the most common cause. The page offers half price for the first three months, so month four looks like a doubling even when nothing else changed. [1] That is the list price returning.

User growth is next. Each plan includes a fixed number of users, from one on Simple Start to twenty-five on Advanced. [1] Hiring an office person can push you into the next plan.

Third, feature creep. A plan chosen for inventory or project tracking costs more than one chosen for invoices only. Review what you actually use. If you use less than you pay for, ask support for the cheaper plan's effect on your data, export your reports, and downgrade at a billing boundary rather than mid-cycle. Prices were read on 2026-10-07 and exclude taxes.
