Does Calendly prevent double booking?
Short answerCalendly says yes: it checks the calendars you connect in real time and hides times that show as busy [1]. The check depends on what is connected. It cannot see a second calendar you did not link, a crew count, or work that lives in a different system.
The explanation
According to the vendor's FAQ, its conflict check combines the connected calendar with your availability and event settings [1]. A busy entry on the connected calendar removes that time from the booking page [1]. That is a sound basis for one-person scheduling.
Four gaps are worth testing. Is every calendar connected? Are there separate event types that each think the time is free? Does a long job block the full duration? And does a phone booking land on the calendar at all? Each gap is a way two customers can reach the same hour.
If you run more than one tech, look for a tool that treats each person or crew as its own resource. Test it with two competing requests at the same minute. Vendor behavior can change, so read the current help page and run your own test before you trust any claim, including this one.
Steps
- List every calendar and notebook that holds appointments.
- Connect them all, or consolidate them into one calendar.
- Create two competing requests for one hour.
- Check the second request is refused.
What to watch for
- Event types that do not share availability.
- Long jobs set with a short duration.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex is designed to show availability from a single schedule with each technician as a separate column and optional buffers. The multi-technician board is a demo screen and buffer time is partly built.
