What is dispatch software communication?

Process: Dispatch and routing. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerDispatch software communication means the messages that move between office, crew and customer around a job: assignments, status taps, schedule changes, on-the-way texts and notes. A good tool puts those messages on the job record, so nobody has to scroll a group text to find an address.

The explanation

Three channels matter. Office to crew: the job, the address, the notes and any change. Crew to office: on the way, arrived, done, and photos or notes from the site. Business to customer: confirmation, reminder, on-the-way and follow-up.

The weakness of group texts is that nothing is tied to a job. A change at 7 a.m. gets buried under photos and jokes. When messages attach to the job record, the office sees a history, and a tech who opens the job sees the latest instruction.

Look for notice rules too. When a job is reassigned, the old tech should be told and the new tech should receive it, with a time stamp. Customer messages should come from the business and record replies. Texting to customers needs a provider account and carrier registration, which any tool will ask you to set up.

What to watch for

  • Instructions that live only in a group chat.
  • Customer replies that go to nobody.

How Apex does it

In progress

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex gives the crew status taps and builds an ETA text for the customer. Push notices to a tech for new or changed jobs and reassignment notices are in progress or demo, and texting needs the owner's provider account first.
