Online booking: what it means
DefinitionOnline booking is a web page or form through which customers choose a service, an address and a preferred time without phoning the business. It works around the clock, but in field services it usually creates a request that the business must confirm.
How it works in a service business
Many customers research at night or on a lunch break and will not call. A booking page captures them when the office is closed. The page should ask only what is needed to price and place the job: service, address, time preference and contact details. The tradeoff is control. Showing real availability reduces back and forth but depends on an accurate calendar, and showing none turns the page into a plain contact form. A common mistake is a long form that drives people away, or one that promises a time the crew cannot meet. Test the page on a phone, check that requests reach you right away, and keep the confirmation step clear.
Example
At eleven at night a homeowner picks a carpet cleaning, enters an address and prefers Saturday morning. The owner sees the pending request at breakfast and confirms it.
