Should I book an appointment by phone or online?
Short answerBook online for routine, well defined jobs and for requests made after hours, and call for urgent problems or jobs you cannot describe easily. Providers should offer both, make each path end with a written confirmation, and treat an online submission as a request until it is confirmed.
The explanation
Online booking works when the job is clear: a standard clean, a lawn visit, an annual service. The customer picks a time at their own pace, often late in the evening, and the provider gets the details in writing. There is no phone tag.
A call is better when the situation is urgent or unclear, such as a leak, a strange noise, or a job with several parts. A person can ask follow up questions, set priority, and give reassurance. Many customers also simply prefer a voice, especially older ones.
Whichever path is used, the confirmation is what counts. A request submitted online may be only a request until the provider approves it, so look for a message that states the date, time, and price. If none arrives within a day, follow up by phone rather than assuming the time is held.
Steps
- Choose online for routine jobs and after hours, and phone for urgent problems.
- Give the provider the same details whichever way you reach them.
- Look for a written confirmation with date, time, and price.
- If nothing arrives within a day, call to confirm the slot is held.
How Apex does it
Built, rolling out
Built. A real server path exists; only setup steps remain before customers can use it. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex is designed so an online request arrives as pending, the owner or the owner's rules confirm it, and a confirmation message follows. The booking page is built, and texts need a connected provider account first.
