Why are customer reviews important?
Short answerCustomer reviews matter because a stranger choosing someone to enter their home has little else to judge you by. Reviews act as proof from people like them. A steady, honest flow of recent ones matters more than a perfect score.
The explanation
Choosing a plumber, cleaner or lawn crew involves trust. The customer cannot inspect the work in advance, so they read what past customers wrote. Recent, specific reviews that mention the job and the people are more believable than general praise.
Reviews also give you information. A pattern of comments about lateness or unclear pricing tells you where to fix your process, and it costs nothing. Respond to critical ones calmly and factually, since future readers judge you by the reply as much as the complaint.
To get them, ask soon after a finished job, while the result is fresh, and make it a single easy step with a direct link. Ask every customer, not just the ones you expect to be happy. Do not offer rewards for reviews or write your own, since platforms have rules and customers can tell.
What to watch for
- Asking only customers you think will say yes.
- Ignoring or arguing with a bad review.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex works toward a review request after a job, review request automation and a Google review link per location. The first two are built, the link is partly built, and sending requires a connected channel.
