How do I stop paying for software I barely use in my carpet and tile cleaning business?

Process: Software pricing and choosing. Trade: Carpet cleaning. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerCompare each tool's monthly cost with the jobs it actually touched in the last ninety days. Carpet and tile crews often pay for route optimization they rarely open, marketing credits that expire and extra seats for helpers. Remove those first and keep quoting, scheduling and invoicing.

The explanation

Start with the idle list. Route optimization is valuable for twenty stops a day and nearly useless for four. If your crew runs three to five jobs, a hand-ordered list may be as good, and the module can go.

Look at marketing credits. Campaign and postcard bundles are priced on a monthly allowance, and unused credits rarely roll over. If you sent nothing last quarter, you paid for nothing. Cancel the bundle and buy a single send when you plan a spring promotion.

Carpet and tile also run on repeat reminders: customers re-clean every six to twelve months. That is the one automation that can justify its cost, so keep a rebooking reminder if it has brought back real work. Measure it by counting bookings that followed a reminder.

Steps

  1. List each module with its monthly cost and last use.
  2. Test whether a hand-ordered day list matches route output.
  3. Cancel unused campaign bundles and credits.
  4. Keep the rebooking reminder only if it brought bookings back.

What to watch for

  • Marketing credits that expire unused every month.
  • Seats for helpers who only need a day sheet.

In carpet cleaning

Carpet and tile crews run few stops a day with long jobs and repeat cleanings every several months, so route tools matter less than reminders. All carpet cleaning scheduling questions.

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex lists a rebooking reminder for lapsed customers and a carpet, pressure-wash and window cleaning pack, each with its own status badge. Pricing is by user, from $59 a month, with no add-on bundles required.
