How do I stop forgetting to follow up with fence customers?
Short answerAttach a dated follow-up to each fence quote, then a second one for the deposit and a third for after the install. Fence jobs stall between quote and deposit, and the neighbors who see the finished fence are your easiest next leads.
The explanation
A fence quote usually goes to a homeowner who needs to check property lines, an HOA rule or a budget before saying yes. A follow-up at three or four working days that asks what they are waiting on is more useful than asking whether they are ready.
Once they say yes, the next risk is the deposit. A task to follow up on the deposit and the start date keeps the job from drifting, and it also tells you when to order materials without guessing.
After the install, ask for the review the same day and ask whether a neighbor has mentioned wanting one. A finished fence is visible from the street, which makes the follow-up task a source of work. Log who said what, so the next conversation does not start from zero.
What to watch for
- Ordering materials before a deposit date is confirmed.
- Forgetting HOA or utility-locate steps that can delay the start.
In fence contractor
Fence jobs depend on property lines, utility marking and sometimes HOA approval. Following up on those steps by name, not just on the price, keeps you from waiting on the wrong party. All fence contractor scheduling questions.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex lets you set a follow-up task on a quote, keep notes on the customer record and trigger a review request after a job. Quote follow-up automations are partly built, and review sending needs a connected channel.
