When i work not working?
Short answerWhen a shift scheduling app stops working, check four things in order: whether staff can log in, whether the connection is good, whether notification permissions are on, and whether the problem hits everyone. A single person failing points at their phone or account. A whole team failing points at the service.
The explanation
Start with the login. Staff sometimes reset a password on one device and forget it on another, or use a different email than the one invited. Ask the person to log in on a browser to see whether the account itself works.
Then check notifications. A shift app can be working perfectly while a phone silences its alerts, so staff never learn about changes. Ask them to open the app and view the schedule manually. If the schedule shows correctly, the problem is alerts, not the app.
If several people fail, post the symptoms in your team thread and check the vendor's status page. Until it is fixed, send the week's schedule by text or print it. A shift app is a convenience, and the crew should still know where to be.
Steps
- Ask the person to log in from a browser to test the account.
- Check that notifications are enabled for the app on their phone.
- Ask whether coworkers have the same problem.
- Send the schedule by text or print it while the app is fixed.
What to watch for
- Assuming staff know about a shift change because the app alerted them.
- Changing the schedule in the app while it is failing and not telling anyone.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex has role-limited calendar views and push notifications for new or changed jobs, plus a printable day plan. The push piece is in progress and the printable sheet is built but not fully connected to real data yet.
