How do I restart service with a customer who stopped?
Short answerRestart a customer by reaching out with a specific reason and a dated opening, such as a seasonal start or a cancelled slot on their old day. Acknowledge any past problem briefly, offer the previous price or a small restart credit, and make saying yes a single reply.
The explanation
People lapse for ordinary reasons: a move, a tight month, a missed visit, or simply forgetting to rebook. A message that arrives at a natural moment lands better than a general one. Spring for lawns, the start of the school year for cleaning, and the first cold week for heating checks are examples.
Be direct. Say you noticed they have not booked since a given month, you have an opening on their usual day, and you would like to restart them. If a past problem caused the break, name it in one sentence and say what changed. Long apologies read as defensive.
Keep the reply cost low. Offer two choices of date and ask for a one word answer. If they decline, ask for the reason once and log it. Then set a date to try again in a few months, since many lapsed customers return.
Steps
- Pull the list of customers past their usual rebooking interval.
- Send a short message naming an open date on their old day.
- Acknowledge any past problem in one sentence and say what changed.
- Log the answer and schedule another try in a few months if they decline.

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex is designed with rebooking reminders for lapsed customers, win-back automation, and churn flags on customer records. These are partly built, and messages by text require a connected provider account and carrier registration first.
