How much to charge for junk removal jobs?

Process: Quotes and estimates. Trade: Junk removal. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerCharge enough per load to cover labor, truck, fuel, disposal and overhead and still leave your target margin. Find your cost for a typical load, divide by one minus the margin you want, and test it against five recent jobs. I give no local rate, because disposal costs and demand vary.

The explanation

Start with the cost of one typical load. Add crew wages and payroll costs for the hours, the truck and fuel, the dump fee, equipment wear and your share of insurance and admin. That is your break-even. Anything above it is margin.

To find a price, divide the break-even by one minus your target margin. A margin is a share of the price, so a thirty percent margin is not thirty percent added to cost. Do the arithmetic with your own figures.

Then test. Pull your last five jobs, apply the price, and see how many would have been fair to the customer and profitable to you. Adjust the minimum and the extras. Re-check the dump fee every few months, since disposal changes and your price should follow.

In junk removal

Disposal is the cost you cannot control, so state a pass-through rule for heavy or special items on the quote. Dump slips from past jobs are the best data you have. All junk removal scheduling questions.
