Is there a free version of Homebase?
Short answerYes. Homebase lists a Basic version at $0 a month per location, limited to one location and up to 10 employees. [1] It also offers a 14-day free trial of its top plan, All-in-One, so you can see paid features first. [1]
The explanation
The trial runs on All-in-One, which means you will try more than you keep on free. The page says that if no plan is chosen at the end, you drop to the free level. [1] Note which features disappear on day fifteen.
Plans can be changed at any time, and the new plan starts at the beginning of the next billing cycle. [1] That makes testing low risk, though you should avoid entering card details until you are ready.
For a service business, ask whether the free tier includes what you need: customer-facing booking, routes, quotes, invoices. If not, a free shift tool will only solve part of the problem. Note the date the trial ends so a plan change does not surprise you. Keep a backup export of your schedule.
How Apex does it

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex is trial-then-paid: 14 days with no card, then $59, $99 or $129 by user count. A plan change from inside the account is part of the design.
