Can I cancel a service plan?

Process: Recurring jobs and memberships. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerYes, a recurring service plan can usually be cancelled, but the terms sit in the agreement the customer accepted. Three items decide the outcome: the notice period, the date of the last visit, and what happens to visits already paid for. Owners should write all three down before the first visit, not after the complaint.

The explanation

A service plan is a standing promise to show up on a schedule, so ending it affects two sides. The customer wants to stop being charged. The owner wants to stop holding a slot on the route. A notice period, such as the next billing date or thirty days, gives the owner time to fill that slot and gives the customer a clear date to plan around.

Prepaid visits are the usual argument. Decide in advance whether unused visits are refunded, credited toward a future return, or forfeited, and put the rule in the same document as the price. Customers accept a firm rule far more easily than one invented on the phone during a cancellation.

As a customer, read the agreement you accepted, find the notice wording, and cancel in writing so there is a dated record. Ask for the final visit date in the reply.

Steps

  1. Find the agreement or the confirmation email the customer accepted when the plan started and read the cancellation or notice wording.
  2. Pick the effective date: the next billing date, the end of the notice period, or the last scheduled visit.
  3. Decide what happens to prepaid visits: refund, credit, or forfeit, and state it in the written reply.
  4. Remove or pause the remaining visits on the schedule so a crew does not drive out to a cancelled stop.

What to watch for

  • Ending the billing but leaving visits on the route, which sends a crew to a stop the customer thinks is finished.
  • Terms that exist only in a verbal promise. If it is not written down, expect to argue about it.

How Apex does it

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex is designed to let an owner pause, skip or end a plan visit by visit, and to have the customer accept the terms and cancellation policy up front. Renewal reminders go out ahead of each term so notice dates are not a surprise.
