How do I let auto repair shop customers book themselves without calling me?

Process: Lead capture. Trade: Auto repair shop. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerOffer a menu of common services with durations, ask for year, make, model and the symptom, and require a minimum lead time before the drop-off. Customers choose a drop-off slot online, and the shop sees the vehicle details before the car arrives, so parts can be checked ahead.

The explanation

A shop sells time in the bay and in the technician's hours. The menu on the page should carry that time: an oil change as thirty minutes, brakes as two hours, a diagnostic as one. The page then knows how many drop-offs fit in a morning.

Year, make and model are the most useful intake fields. They let you check parts availability and flag cars you do not service. A free-text symptom box helps the service writer prepare a first diagnosis.

Set a lead time, such as no same-day drop-offs after noon, so the bay and any parts are ready. For repair work beyond the menu, use request mode so the customer asks, and you confirm the slot after looking at the symptom. That keeps a strange noise or a warning light from filling a bay it should not.

Steps

  1. List services with the real bay time each takes.
  2. Add required fields for year, make, model and symptom.
  3. Set a lead time and block times when the shop is closed or full.
  4. Use request mode for any service you want to review first.

In auto repair shop

Shops schedule drop-offs against bay and technician hours, and many repairs depend on parts. Vehicle details collected at booking let the service writer check parts and decide on the right bay before the car arrives. All auto repair shop scheduling questions.
