How do I add customer reviews to my service business?

Process: Follow-up and reviews. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerAdd customer reviews by collecting them on a public profile such as your Google listing, then showing selected ones on your own site with the reviewer's permission. Ask every customer, not only happy ones, copy nothing you cannot link back to, and never write or edit a review yourself.

The explanation

Collecting comes first. Choose one main place, usually your Google listing, and send customers there with a direct link after each finished job. A single place builds a visible count faster than reviews spread across five sites.

Displaying comes second. On your own site, show a few reviews with the reviewer's first name and the service performed, and link to the public profile so visitors can verify them. A review you typed yourself or paraphrased is not a review, and in many places it is against consumer protection rules, so check your local rules.

Reply to every review, including critical ones. A calm reply that states the facts and offers to fix the problem shows future customers how you treat people. Keep a simple log of requests sent and reviews received so you can see which job types produce them.

Steps

  1. Pick one main review site and get your direct link.
  2. Send the link by text after each finished job.
  3. Ask permission before showing a review on your own site.
  4. Reply to every review within a couple of days.

What to watch for

  • Writing or editing reviews yourself.
  • Asking only customers you expect to be happy.

How Apex does it

In progress

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex lists a Google review link per location and a reputation dashboard of all reviews in one place, each with its own status badge. Apex has no reviews of its own to show, since it is in early access with one business as its tenant.

Where this question comes from: owners type it, or a close variant, into search boxes. It was returned by public search suggestions (Google, Bing or DuckDuckGo) when we collected them on 2026-10-06; the exact phrase seen was “how to add a customer review?”. We do not have search volumes.
