How to import an ICS file into Google Calendar?

Process: Integrations and accounting. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerImport an ICS file through Settings and then Import and Export on a computer, and choose which calendar receives it. [1] Google notes that imported events do not stay in sync between accounts. [1] For a schedule that changes daily, a live feed or sync fits better.

The explanation

An ICS import copies events at one moment. Google's help page says imported events do not stay in sync between two accounts, and suggests sharing a calendar if you want them to sync. [1] So a one-time import suits a fixed list, like moving past jobs or a seasonal route.

A job schedule changes constantly: visits move, cancel and get added. If you import a Monday export, the Tuesday changes will not appear. Importing again creates duplicates unless you delete the earlier batch first.

When you need a live view, look for a subscribe feed or two-way sync in your scheduling software. A feed updates the calendar from the source whenever it changes. If your tool offers neither, set a rule: one person exports and replaces the batch each morning, and everyone else treats the calendar as read-only.

What to watch for

  • Importing twice without removing the first batch.
  • Editing imported events and expecting the source to update.

How Apex does it

Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex works toward an iCal subscribe feed and two-way Google or Outlook calendar sync. Both are partly built, so check the status badge before depending on a live link.
