My appliance repair techs drive all over town every day, how do I stop wasting gas?
Short answerGroup appliance repair work by zone, and schedule return visits for the day the tech is already in that area. Diagnosis calls and parts pickups scatter a tech across town, so batching returns and stocking common parts removes the largest detours.
The explanation
Appliance repair creates driving in three ways: the first diagnosis visit, the parts run, and the return visit to install the part. The first is hard to control because customers call when something breaks. The other two are within your control.
For return visits, hold them until the tech has a day in the same zone. Tell the customer the day and the window when you order the part. Many customers accept that if the date is firm and the message is clear.
For parts, review which five or ten parts you replace most often and keep them on the truck. A tech who can fix on the first visit avoids the second trip entirely. Keep a running list of what you wished you had carried. Review it monthly, and let the repeat items decide what goes in the stock bins.
In appliance repair
Customers with a dead washer or fridge want speed, so first visits often cannot wait for a zone day. Return visits can. Splitting the two rules lets you stay responsive and still cut the second trip. All appliance repair scheduling questions.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex works toward scheduling by zone and includes a daily route optimization and drive time between jobs. Zone scheduling is partly built, and part inventory tools are built as screens only.
