Review request: what it means
DefinitionA review request is a message, usually a text or email sent soon after a completed job, asking the customer to leave a public rating or comment on a review site. A timely, simple request is the most common way small businesses collect reviews.
How it works in a service business
Customers are happiest right after a good job, so the request works best within a day, with one tap to the review page. The tradeoff is tone: nagging annoys people, and offering rewards for positive reviews can break platform rules. A common mistake is screening, sending only happy customers to the public site, which many review platforms prohibit. Ask everyone, respond to every review, and handle complaints privately where you can. Send one reminder at most. Make sure the link goes to the right business listing for the right location, and check that the message reads like it came from a person at your company, not a form letter. Do not invent or write reviews on a customer's behalf.
Example
The evening after a cleaning, the customer receives a short thank-you text with one link to the review page, and no second message unless she opens the first.
