How do I stop my barber crew from showing up late?

Process: Dispatch and routing. Trade: Barbershop. Reviewed 2026-10-07.

Short answerA barber who starts late usually has a schedule with no slack between cuts. Set realistic cut lengths per service, leave a short gap every few clients, and message waiting clients when the chair is running behind so they can arrive later instead of sitting in the lobby.

The explanation

A fade with a beard trim takes longer than a basic cut, yet many calendars give both thirty minutes. Five cuts later the barber is forty minutes behind, and each client simply sees a late start.

Give each service a true length, add a ten minute catch-up gap after a run of long services, and have the front desk text the next two clients if the chair slips.

Lateness is easier to fix once it is visible. A tap when the crew leaves for barber jobs and another on arrival shows the office where the day is slipping, while it can still be repaired. Share the plan with the crew lead too, because a lead who knows the next three stops can call ahead without waiting for the office. Review the slipped days each week and move the stops that keep running long.

Steps

  1. Review the last month of barber jobs and write down the real length of each type.
  2. Set each service length from that history instead of one default.
  3. Order the day by area so drive time between stops stays short.
  4. Add a buffer after any job that often runs long.
  5. Have the crew tap when they leave and when they arrive so the office can warn the next customer.

What to watch for

  • Promising windows tighter than the real drive time.
  • Treating lateness as a people issue before checking the plan.

In barbershop

A barber works one chair at a time. Unlike a crew with a second truck, nobody can pick up the overflow, so every minute of overrun stacks directly onto the next client. All barbershop scheduling questions.

How Apex does it

Built, rolling out

Built. A real server path exists; only setup steps remain before customers can use it. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.

Apex shows drive time between stops, orders the day by route, and gives the crew a tap for on the way, arrived and done. The office can then send an on-the-way text, which needs the owner's own texting provider to be connected first.
