How do I stop forgetting to follow up with exterminator customers?
Short answerBook the follow-up treatment before you leave the first one. Pest work needs a return visit to confirm the result, so put that date on the customer record, add a check-in task between visits, and send a renewal reminder before a plan ends.
The explanation
Pest control follow-up is built into the service: many treatments need a second visit to check results or reapply. If that second date lives only in the technician's memory, it gets missed. Scheduling it during the first visit also tells the customer the problem is being tracked.
Between visits, a check-in task asks the customer what they have seen. Activity in the same room, or no activity at all, is information that changes what the technician brings next time. It also stops the customer from calling a competitor when they spot one insect.
For recurring plans, a renewal reminder should go out before the term ends, with the date and the plan name. One-time customers deserve a gentle offer for ongoing service a few weeks later, once they have seen the result.
What to watch for
- Treating a call about one bug as a complaint instead of data.
- Letting a plan lapse because the renewal date was never flagged.
In pest control
Customers rarely know the treatment schedule. Writing the return date and what to expect, such as seeing a few insects after a treatment, into the confirmation prevents panicked calls. All pest control scheduling questions.
How Apex does it
In progress
Part of this is built. The rest is not. Status as of 2026-10-07; the badge shows the least-built feature involved.
Apex includes a rebooking reminder for lapsed customers, follow-up tasks on each record and a review request after a job. The rebooking reminder is partly built, and sending depends on a connected channel.
