Industries / Pool service
Thursday is the Maple Ridge route, and the pool is green on the first visit.
Works today
Run weekly pool routes, log chemicals, handle repairs, bill on a schedule.
Apex keeps weekly pool customers on a stable route day, shows the dosing history before the tech arrives, and prices a green-pool recovery from a photo instead of a guess.
Who it is for: Pool service companies running weekly chemical and cleaning routes with technicians, plus repairs, openings and green-to-clean recoveries.
What generic schedulers get wrong for pool service
Weekly stops want a stable weekday
A customer stays on the same day with the same tech. Route density decides which new pools you can add without breaking a route.
Readings drive the visit
Free chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizer, calcium, salt and temperature set the dose. The tech needs last week's numbers before the stop starts.
Chemicals are billed two ways
Included in a flat monthly fee or billed back by visit. The plan must carry that choice.
One-time jobs ride on the route
A green-to-clean recovery or an equipment repair is a one-off with a photo-based quote on top of weekly service.
Price per pool punishes growth
Pool owners on a public forum report price increases and disagree on whether per-stop pricing pays off as a book grows.

The tools in pool service, and where we can honestly do better
Tools our research found in use for pool service: Skimmer, Pool Brain, Pool Office Manager, Jobber, Housecall Pro. Listing a tool is not a claim about it.
Skimmer
Pool owners on Reddit report price increases, and operators disagree on whether per-stop pricing is worth it as a book grows.
Individual user report (anecdote): Reddit r/swimmingpoolsWhat Apex does about it: The plan price is public and based on users, with no per-pool fee.
Skimmer
Some pool operators report that QuickBooks tethering and billing setup were difficult.
Individual user report (anecdote): Reddit r/PoolProsWhat Apex does about it: Accounting sync is in build and we will not claim it works until it does.
Skimmer Pro
Sampled iOS reviews on 2026-10-06 include crashes loading a customer page and, from one reviewer, doubled route stops when a phone and a tablet were both used.
Public store listing: App Store listing and reviewsWhat Apex does about it: Our crew app is in build. Doubled stops across devices is the kind of bug our sync tests are meant to catch.
Pool Brain
The iOS listing shows 4.00 stars (259 ratings) and Google Play 3.36 (141). Sampled iOS reviews mention battery drain after an update and routes scrambled even when locked.
Public store listing: App Store listing and reviewsWhat Apex does about it: Our crew app is in build; routes that stay scrambled after a lock is a test case, not a shipped fix.
Jobber
Posts on its community forum say that adding a customer to a route means editing each customer, and that route changes do not persist across weeks when running 30 to 40 stops a day.
Individual user report (anecdote): Jobber community forumWhat Apex does about it: Zone days are in the engine today, and a route object that holds its order is in build.
When another tool may be the better choice: Skimmer and Pool Brain are purpose-built for pool routes and are well liked in the sources we read, with tap-to-optimize routes, dosing and reports. If you want those today, they are the mature choice. Apex is newer and the dosing and crew-app items are in build.
What it costs for pool service
Apex lists three public plans, priced by users: Solo $59 per month for 1 user, Crew $99 for 2 to 5 users, Business $129 for 6 users plus $10 for each extra user. No plan includes any texts, AI phone minutes or AI usage. For this trade we would start you on Crew. Multiple techs on route days fit Crew.
Jobber lists Core at $29 to $49, Connect at $99 to $139 and Grow at $149 to $199 or more per month. Markate lists a base plan at $49.95 per month with online booking, customer portal, reviews and Zapier at $10 each. These are public figures as read on 2026-10-06, verify before buying. Seat counts and included features differ between vendors, and we have not verified every one, so compare your own crew size on the pricing page before you decide. Texts and AI run on your own provider account or a prepaid wallet, and card processing is at the processor's own rate.
