Industries / Carpet, tile and upholstery cleaning

One scheduler for carpet, tile and upholstery cleaning.

Works today

Book by room, quote fabric from photos, route the truck, rebook on a schedule.

See the real setup we built first: Spiker Carpet and Tile Care.

Carpet cleaning

Apex quotes carpet by the room with your job minimum, offers only the arrival windows your truck can keep, and holds every request as pending until you say yes.

Who it is for: Owner-operators and one-to-four-truck carpet shops running truck-mount or portable extraction on mostly residential rooms.

What generic schedulers get wrong for carpet cleaning

Room-count pricing with a minimum

Carpet is sold by the room with a size cap, stairs counted as a room-equivalent and a job minimum. A generic quote is a line item times a quantity, so the minimum and the cap live in your head.

Windows, not times

Customers want "Tuesday morning", and a truck cannot promise 9:14. The reference setup offers three overlapping windows and never stores an exact time.

Fabric is not carpet

A sofa or mattress should never get a number from a phone call. Generic tools price whatever is typed; here those lines say photo quote required and cannot be confirmed until photos arrive.

The truck is the constraint

Water tank refills, dump stops and drying time before furniture goes back set how many rooms fit in a day. Most schedulers count appointments, not truck load.

The sale is six months later

The next job is the re-clean. Rebooking has to key off the last clean date and the surface, not a customer tag.

Drawn in code for carpet cleaning

A day in a carpet cleaning business

  • Carpet rooms
  • Pet odor
  • Upholstery (photo quote)
  • Re-clean (warranty)

A carpet crew day: rooms, a pet job and a warranty re-clean on one short route. Illustration of planned screens: entries are examples, not customer data, and not every screen shown is built yet.

How carpet cleaning runs in Apex: the key settings

Starter settings for this trade. You change any of them. Nothing here is a promise about your numbers.

How jobs get booked

Arrival windows, never exact times. Starting set: three overlapping windows (8-10, 9-11, 10 to noon), Monday to Friday.

Stops in a day

About 3 stops a day per truck in the reference setup. Owner sets the cap per crew.

Routing

Dynamic cluster: the first stop anchors the day, later stops stay near it (about 20 miles, 25 extra drive minutes in the reference). Zone days are the alternative.

Who says yes

Owner confirms every request. The customer receipt says request received, never confirmed.

How you price

Per room with a size cap, stairs counted as a room, a job minimum, and per-room add-ons (protector, enzyme, pre-vacuum). Fabric by photo quote only.

Repeat customers

No fixed plan. Rebooking reminder about six months after carpet, twelve after tile.

Follow-up calls

Owner call-back the next business day at 10 AM, satisfaction check on business day 3, warranty check at day 30.

Review requests

Review request about a day after completion, linked to the Google profile for the customer's city, held back if a complaint is open.

What we ask the customer

  • Rooms and rough size
  • Stairs: how many steps
  • Pets, and where accidents happened
  • Stains and last professional clean
  • Any upholstery or mattress? (routes to a photo quote)
  • Parking and water access

Photos and papers to collect

  • Photos of each upholstery piece or mattress before confirmation
  • Pre-existing damage photos on arrival

Rules to watch

  • Service-area check by city and ZIP
  • Damage waiver acknowledgement
  • Safety data sheets for chemicals on the truck

The tools in carpet cleaning, and where we can honestly do better

Tools our research found in use for carpet cleaning: ServiceMonster, Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz, Service Fusion. Listing a tool is not a claim about it.

Housecall Pro

Its help center describes campaign texts and emails as paid bundles.

Vendor's own page: Housecall Pro help center

What Apex does about it: Rebooking and follow-up texts run on your own provider account or the prepaid wallet, with the cost shown before you send. No plan includes free texts.

Housecall Pro

Its official pricing page reserves route optimization, advanced proposals and recurring service, and API access for higher tiers.

Vendor's own page: Housecall Pro pricing page

What Apex does about it: Route density and recurring-visit rules are core engine features, and the pricing page lists what each plan includes.

Jobber

Its pricing page lists AI Receptionist and Marketing Suite as separately priced add-ons.

Vendor's own page: Jobber pricing page

What Apex does about it: Missed-call text-back is in Team, and call answering is in Pro, at the public plan price.

When another tool may be the better choice: ServiceMonster is built for cleaning and restoration and may already fit a shop that is happy with it. We did not retrieve current complaints about it, so we make no claim against it.

What it costs for carpet cleaning

Apex lists three public plans, priced by users: Solo $59 per month for 1 user, Crew $99 for 2 to 5 users, Business $129 for 6 users plus $10 for each extra user. No plan includes any texts, AI phone minutes or AI usage. For this trade we would start you on Crew. Most carpet shops land on Crew: a second truck and a second pair of hands put the shop at two to five users.

Jobber lists Core at $29 to $49, Connect at $99 to $139 and Grow at $149 to $199 or more per month. Markate lists a base plan at $49.95 per month with online booking, customer portal, reviews and Zapier at $10 each. These are public figures as read on 2026-10-06, verify before buying. Seat counts and included features differ between vendors, and we have not verified every one, so compare your own crew size on the pricing page before you decide. Texts and AI run on your own provider account or a prepaid wallet, and card processing is at the processor's own rate.

Carpet cleaning: questions, answered first

Does Apex price carpet by the room or by the square foot?
Both. Rooms are the default for carpet, with a size cap per room, stairs counted as a room and a job minimum. Square feet are used for tile and rugs.
What happens with a sofa or a mattress request?
It shows photo quote required with no price. The request cannot be confirmed until you mark the photos received.
Can I stop a Lodi job landing on a Sacramento day?
Yes. Route density either anchors the day on its first stop or lets you assign cities to weekdays, and it only removes offered days.
Does the customer get a confirmed time right away?
No. They get a receipt that says the request is not confirmed yet. Your team confirms it.
Is the truck-load planning built?
Not yet. Water refills, dump stops and rooms per tank are in build. Daily stop caps per crew are built.
Can I use this for tile and upholstery as well?
Yes. They have their own pages and settings, and one account can run all three.

Tile and grout cleaning

Apex turns a tile area and a grout condition into a starting estimate, keeps seal-and-color add-ons separate from the clean, and schedules the visit by how long grout actually takes.

Who it is for: Tile and grout specialists, and carpet companies adding tile as a second service, working showers, kitchens, entries and patios.

Works with a few tweaksOur research treats tile mostly as a service inside carpet and floor care. Operator interviews will deepen this pack.

What generic schedulers get wrong for tile and grout work

Square feet, not rooms

Tile is priced by area. A generic calendar duration does not change with 120 square feet versus 600, so days overrun.

Three jobs in one visit

Clean, color-seal and re-grout carry different times and prices. Bundling them as one line hides the margin on each.

Stone changes the chemistry

Travertine, marble and slate cannot take the same products as porcelain. The crew needs the surface before they arrive, not on the doorstep.

Cure time is part of the schedule

A sealed floor stays off-limits for a set time. A good schedule tells the customer, and avoids stacking a furniture-moving job behind it.

Routing

Dynamic cluster, shared with the carpet route when the same crew does both.

Who says yes

Owner confirms. Large natural-stone jobs wait for a photo review.

How you price

Per square foot with a job minimum. Seal, color-seal and re-grout are separate lines.

Repeat customers

Reseal reminder at twelve months.

Follow-up calls

Call-back next business day; day-30 check on grout color holding.

Review requests

Vendor's own page: Jobber pricing page

What Apex does about it: Plan prices stay public, and texts run on your own provider or the prepaid wallet.

When another tool may be the better choice: If you run mostly carpet with tile as a minor add-on, the carpet page and pack cover you. A tile-only specialist should expect to confirm settings with us during setup.

What it costs for tile and grout work

Apex lists three public plans, priced by users: Solo $59 per month for 1 user, Crew $99 for 2 to 5 users, Business $129 for 6 users plus $10 for each extra user. A tile specialist working alone can start on Solo and step up to Crew when the second van arrives.

Jobber lists Core at $29 to $49, Connect at $99 to $139 and Grow at $149 to $199 or more per month. Tile and grout cleaning: questions, answered first

Is tile priced by the room?
No, by the square foot with a job minimum. Sealing, color-sealing and re-grouting are separate lines.
How does Apex handle natural stone?
It asks for the stone type and a photo before a firm price, so the right products come on the van.
Can I run tile and carpet from one account?
Yes. Both share the arrival windows, the crew day and the route rules.
Does it remind customers to reseal?
Yes, at twelve months by default, and it stops if they already have a visit on the calendar.
Is the cure-time hold built?
Not yet, it is in build. The reseal reminder and the square-foot quote are built.

Upholstery cleaning

Apex never prices a sofa, sectional or mattress from a phone call: it asks for photos of each piece, holds the request, and lets you quote from what you can see.

Who it is for: Upholstery and mattress cleaners, and carpet shops where fabric is the highest-risk and highest-margin add-on.

What generic schedulers get wrong for upholstery cleaning

The price depends on the fabric

Microfiber, linen, velvet, silk and leather each clean differently. A phone price for "a couch" is a guess that lands on you.

One photo is not a quote

A sectional is three pieces and a wall of cushions. You need a photo per piece, with a tag shot for the cleaning code.

Confirmation should wait

A generic scheduler confirms the moment a slot is picked. Here confirmation waits until the photos are in and you have priced it.

Cleaning codes carry risk

W, S, WS and X codes decide which method is safe. Missing the tag turns a clean into a damage claim.

Stops in a day

Three to five stops a day; one large sectional can be a half day.

Routing

Dynamic cluster, riding along with carpet stops when the crew is already nearby.

Who says yes

Owner confirms every request after seeing photos.

How you price

Photo quote only: no price is shown until you quote it. Per-piece pricing after that, with a minimum.

Repeat customers

Reminder around twelve months, or after a move or a pet.

Follow-up calls

Call-back next business day, day-3 satisfaction check because fabric dries slowly.

Review requests

What we ask the customer

  • Pieces: sofa, loveseat, chairs, mattress size
  • Fabric if known, plus the cleaning-code tag
  • Stains and what caused them
  • Pets, smoking, odor
  • Leather or delicate fabric?

Photos and papers to collect

  • A photo of each piece
  • A photo of the cleaning-code tag
  • Close-up of each stain

Rules to watch

  • Fabric-risk waiver acknowledged
  • Pre-existing damage noted

What Apex does about it: The photo-quote flow is part of every plan, Solo included.

When another tool may be the better choice: A shop that wants an instant online price for every item will not like this approach. If you prefer to quote fabric by sight, it is the point.

Upholstery cleaning: questions, answered first

Does Apex ever show a price for a mattress or sofa?
No. It shows photo quote required until you have looked at the photos and priced the job.
What if the customer sends no photos?
The request stays pending. A chaser task is created for you after a day.
Can the customer pick a time before I quote?
They can ask, but the window is only offered once the quote is agreed.
Does it record the cleaning code?
Not yet. Tag capture is in build. Photo requirement and the confirmation block are built.
Is this the same as carpet cleaning?
It shares the crew day and windows, but upholstery has its own pack: photo-first pricing and a longer follow-up.
